Fine First Empire (1810) clock in mercurial gilded bronze, with chased and chiseled bronze relief on base, surmounted by a tablet on top reading “Arret Contre Les Israelites” (Detention of the Israelites), illusion to the Babylonian captivity of the Jews by Ashurbanipal, the Assyrian king.  Classic First Empire style in the heroic manner.
